Chinese lanterns have been a big part of the Chinese culture, and the Chinese tradition. These Lanterns are made out of a paper type substance and are fairly easy to make, and have been used for such events as festivals, parties, and many other types of celebrations.

The first step that you will want to do is pick out the right paper for your project. You will want to choose one that has the perfect design for you already on the paper. Once you have decided on the paper you will then want grab a pair of scissors and keep them nearby. You will want to fold the paper, in an accordian type style, but you will want to make sure that the folds in the paper are identical or closely resemble eachother. After you have folded the paper you will want to make a small series of cuts on the folds of the paper, the insides. After you have done this you will want to connect the ends and glue together the uncut edges of the paper. After it has finished drying you have created a Chinese Lantern. Poke holes in the top so that you can hang and admire your masterpiece.

Not only are Chinese Lanterns popular all over the world, not just in the United Kingdom, but they have historical significance as well. These lanterns have their very own festival dedicated to them. But the lanterns that are featured  in the Lantern Festival and can be much bigger. They can even reach up to the size of an adult curled up into a ball.
